The exhibition presents works of a well-known Kirovohrad artist, member of
the National Union of Artists of Ukraine F.Polonskyi within the framework of the project
of art exhibitions “In a painter’s studio”.
Polonskyi Feliks Mykhaylovych was born on January 1, 1941 in the village of
Khmeliove, Mala Vyska district, Kirovohrad region. A member of the National Union of
Artists of Ukraine (1994).
Laureate of Regional Award named after Yuryi Yanovskyi(1970) and Regional
Award in fine arts and study of art named after Olexander Osmerkin in nomination “national
tradition” (2007). Awarded Honorable Award of Ministry of Culture of Ukraine "for
achievements in the development of culture and arts"(2004) and Diploma of Kirovohrad
Regional Council (2011).
Graduated with honours from the Painting Department of Ivanovsk Art College,
Russia (1968), teachers: M.Elyseikin, S.Troitskiy, I.Kalashnikov. Worked as a designer of
Kirovohrad department of Odessa industrial and advertising enterprise (1962-1964) and of
Kirovohrad art and industrial workshop of Art fund of Ukrainian SSR, since 1991 of art and
industrial enterprise of Kirovohrad organization of the Union of Artists of Ukraine
(1969-1994).
A participant of regional, all-Ukrainian and foreign exhibitions – “Exhibition
of works by Kirovohrad painters in Tolobukhino, Bulgaria” (1978), “Picturesque Ukraine”
(1991-2005), “50th anniversary of a tragedy of Babi Yar” (1991), “Famishment 33”(1993),
“Sport in fine art” (1998), “60th anniversary of the Union of Artists of Ukraine”
(1998),“Autumn salon” (1993, 1994, 2000), “70th anniversary of the Union of Artists
of Ukraine”(2008),“Colourful Ukraine”(2013). Personal exhibitions: in Kirovohrad –
in art gallery (1993, 1999), in Regional Art Museum (2002, 2004, 2006, 2011), in
Art-Memorial Museum named after O.O.Osmerkin(2014) – and abroad – in Wuppertal,
Deutschland (1999).
The works are kept in Directorate of exhibitions of the Ministry of Culture
of Ukraine, Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum, Art-Memorial Museum named after O.O.Osmerkin
private Ukrainian and foreign collections.
More than 70 graphic works, made in different years, beginning with the
second half of the 1960th and till the present, are shown at the current exhibition. “My
creative path has begun with graphics, in which I became interested during mu college
years…” – confessed F.Polonskiy. The artist’s works are made in different graphic
techniques – pencil, Indian ink, pen, sgraffito, watercolours and gouache, and also
linocut. Many works are devoted to the history of Ukraine – “Koliivshina”, “Kobzar”,
“Aeneida”. Attention is drawn by graphic works from the series: “Chess”, “Fairy-tales”and
“Ukrainian folk songs”. The artist also works in the sphere of book graphics. The
exhibition presents illustrations to a short story of Kirovohrad writer O.Polevina “Cheerful
Marry marries” and a story by O.Green “Scarlet Sails”. |
