"Outdoor Debut"
to the Artist's Day
within the art project "New Generation"

The virtual exhibition "Open Air Debut" for Artist's Day presents graphic works of students of the department of art education, specialty 023 Fine arts, decorative arts, restoration of the Faculty of Pedagogy, Psychology and Arts of the Central Ukrainian State Pedagogical University named after Volodymyr Vinnichenko within the framework of the museum youth art project "New Generation".
The art project "New Generation" aims to identify bright and talented personalities in the modern fine arts of Ukraine among the student artistic youth and provides for the organization of personal and collective exhibitions, as well as the publication of thematic booklets with art studies articles and reproductions of creative works.
The exposition of the exhibition consists of 44 creative works in the technique of watercolors and pencil drawings by students Nika Svatkova, Daria Kosyak and Diana Samonova, made during the educational artistic and creative outdoor practice after the 1st course in June 2021 in the village of Vorokhta in the Ivano-Frankivsk region among of the picturesque Carpathians, under the leadership of senior lecturer of the department Larisa Kulinich - a member of the National Union of Artists and Masters of Folk Art of Ukraine, laureate of the regional award in the field of architecture, heraldry and vexillology and decorative and applied art named after Yakiv Pauchenko in the nomination "decorative and applied art".
As the curator of the exhibition, Larisa Kulinich characterizes the creative process of the students as follows: "A plein air in the first year is the first experience of working in the conditions of a natural environment that is constantly changing, transforming... It is the mastery of watercolor writing techniques, coloristic searches. These are the first attempts to solve one of the main problems of plein-air painting – conveying the state of lighting in the landscape, reproducing the depth of space. Therefore, one of the educational tasks was to depict the same motif several times at different times of the day, under different weather conditions. It was necessary to "catch the sun", and "wait for the fogs", and "keep up with the clouds", and most importantly - to be able to reproduce it all. Learning to understand patterns, to admire the great, to be surprised by the seemingly ordinary, to accumulate and remember emotional impressions is a difficult beginning of professional training. Therefore, the creative debut of Nika, Dasha and Diana is both the first achievements that should be shared with the audience, but also the determination of directions for creative growth and professional development."
The authors were inspired to create plein-air works not only by the Carpathian landscapes and an exciting trip to the cheese factory, but also by getting to know the exhibitions of art museums in Kyiv - the National Art Museum, the Kyiv Art Gallery, the Bohdan and Varvara Khanenki Museum of Art, the Center for Modern Art of the 21st Century "PinchukArtCentre" .
The students' creative works presented at the exhibition vividly reflect love for their native land, admiration for fine arts, and the desire for creative improvement.
