Competition “Youth palette” 2019


    On June 3, 2019, O.O.Osmerkin Art-Memorial Museum hosted the awarding of the winners of the art competition “Youth Palette” named after Leonid Bondar to International Children’s Day in 2019 on the theme: “My Town”, dedicated to the 265th anniversary of Kropyvnytskyi foundation. Also, a presentation of the exhibition of works by the winners and participants of the competition was opened. The exposition of the exhibition included about 150 works – numerous drawings made with watercolors and gouache, crayons, pastel, gel ink pen, as well as decorative works in different techniques: rugs, sculpture compositions from the salt dough, textile items, and works from natural materials.
    The competition is conducted in the following genres of visual art: painting, graphic, sculpture, decorative, and applied art. 218 works by 185 pupils and students from 19 educational establishments and private art-studios in Kropyvnytskyi were applied for the competition. The following educational establishments participated in the competition: Art School named after O.O.Osmerkin, Children’s School of Arts (the Department of Visual Arts), studios of visual and decorative and applied arts of the Regional Center of Children’s and Youth’s Creative Work and the Town Children’s and Youth’s Club “Zorianyi”, Regional Center of Children’s and Youth’s Creative Work of Oleksandrivsk; general education institutions: Gymnasiums named after Taras Shevchenko and named after Oleksandr Pushkin, Zavadivka gymnasium, Science-biased and Natural Science, Economics, Law Lyceum, collegium, Educational Complex No. 17 and “Mriia”, Comprehensive School No.10, 22; private art-studios “Sovushka” and “ART-TAME”’ higher educational institutions: the Central Ukrainian State Pedagogical University named after Volodymyr Vynnychenko (Art and Graphic Art Subdepartment of the Art Department), Kropyvnytskyi the College of Construction (the Department of Architecture and Town Planning), Kropyvnytskyi Institute and College Private Higher Educational Institution “University of Modern Knowledge” (Design).
    According to the decision of the jury of the competition, 29 participants, aged 7 – 22, became winners. Their works were noted by the Diplomas of I, II, and III degrees in the three nominations: I – pupils of the elementary special art educational establishments, schools of aesthetic education; II – pupils of art studios and clubs in visual art of general educational establishments; III – students of higher educational establishments of art and academic specialization in certain age categories. Letters of Appreciation and Honors were received by 48 participants in all nominations.
    Teachers of the award-winning pupils also were noted with the Letters of Appreciation. All the participants whose works were noted by the jury got recognition gifts given by the Department of Culture and Tourism of the City Council of Kropyvnytskyi. The gifts included gouache, watercolor, and acrylic paints, brushes, pastel, albums, and also themed booklets, compiled by the museum researchers, with the reproductions of the works-winners.
    The laureates and their teachers were given an award by Anna Nazarets, the head of the Department of Culture and Tourism, Andrii Nadezhdin, the head of the jury, Merited Artist of Ukraine, and members of the jury, including Olena Kyrychenko, Art History Ph.D., Associate Professor of the Art Faculty of the Central Ukrainian State Pedagogical University named after Volodymyr Vynnychenko, and Liudmyla Demydenko, a painter of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, who also got souvenirs – miniature “butterflies of happiness” in patriotic colors made by the pupils of the studio “Kylymarstvo” Educational Complex “Mriia”, curated by a well-known in our town and beyond, Merited Master of Folk Art of Ukraine, Oleksandra Prenko.
     A traditional photoshoot of the winners and participants of the competition together with their teachers took place near the fascinating museum building.

    On June 5, 2019, Nadiia Moroz, one of the competition winners, together with her mother Oksana Moroz, and her teacher Iryna Zantariia, curator of the studio “ART-TAME”, came to the museum. On the day of the awarding, she wasn’t able to get the award because sherepresented our town in Kyiv at an all-Ukrainian competition and festival of talents and beauty for disabled children and youth “Fairy-Tale Dreams”, which is aimed at supporting and developing creative talents of disabled children and youth, uncovering their creative potential and encouraging their further creative growth, social involvement of disabled people.
    The Diploma of III degree in the nomination for pupils of art studios and clubs in visual art of general educational establishments and recognition gifts – gouache paints and album for drawing were handed by Andrii Nadezhdin, the head of the jury, Merited Artist of Ukraine.
    Nadiia Moroz enjoyed the museum exhibition of the works of the winners and the participants of the exhibition. She also found the drawing with colorful umbrellas on Dvortsova Street created by her elder sister Nastia – a student of the Department of Architecture and Town Planning of the College of Construction. The girl also read the poem about happiness which she recited at the festival competition. To remember the visit to the museum, Nadiia took the photo.
