Awarding of the laureates of the Award named after Alexander Osmerkin 2014


   On December 8, 2014 on 122nd birthday of prominent artist and pedagogue Alexander Osmerkin traditionally took place an awarding of Regional Award in fine arts and study of art named after Alexander Osmerkin, which was founded by Kirovograd Regional Council in 2005 on application of Kirovograd Regional Organization of the National Union of artists of Ukraine. And is established in three nominations: "national tradition", "modern tendencies", "study and history of arts". The event was held in A.A.Osmerkin Art-Memorial Museum.
   Laureates of 2014 became – a famous Kirovograd painter, member of the National Union of artists of Ukraine Anatoliy Gavrylovych Shapovalov in the nomination “national tradition” for creative work of recent years which affirm the foundations of realistic painting of Ukrainian art, and an artist from Svitlovodsk, Kirovograd region, well-known not only in Ukraine but also abroad, member of the National Union of artists of Ukraine Volodymyr Gennadiyovych Tovkaylo in the nomination “modern tendencies” for his compositions of the 2000s in which he realized effective art searches which develop philosophy of kindness and humaneness in modern art.
   Awards – certificate of due form, pecuniary reward, breastplate of the laureate of the award and an honorary prize of Regional Council and Regional State Administration - statuette of "Steppe eagle" were given by deputy head of Kirovograd regional council I.Vladov. Unfortunately, V.Tovkaiylo could not be present at the awarding due to reasonable excuse, so greetings and best wishes, concerning him as well, received A.Shapovalov, who in acknowledgement presented to the museum his painting “Street in Bakhchisaray. In remembrance of V.H.Puzyrkov”, created in 2009 during open air trip to the Crimea.
   Deputy head of Culture and Tourism Department of Kirovograd City Council N.Chorna, head of Kirovohrad regional organization of the National Union of artist of Ukraine People’s artist of Ukraine M.Nadezhdin and deputy director of Kirovograd regional museum H.V.Osipova expressed their appreciation and respect to the artists-laureates for their talent and creative achievements. Pleasant musical greeting was performances of pupils and teachers of Kirovograd children’s music school ¹1 named after H.Neuhaus under the leadership of its director Ye.Malyavkina, who impressed the audience with their unsurpassed performances, especially children’s ensemble of stringed and bow instruments “Dyvosvit”.
   At the end all comers saw round the exhibition of the best works of A.Shapovalov and V.Tovkaylo shown in the museum halls. The works reflect creative style of each artist and let viewers plunge into a wonderful world of such a different but emotionally striking modern Ukrainian painting.

   On December 25, 2014 a creative meeting with the laureate of Regional Award in fine arts and study of art named after Alexander Osmerkin 2014 in the nomination “modern tendencies”, member of the National Union of artist of Ukraine V.Tovkaylo, who came from Svitlovodsk, Kirovograd region, took place in the museum. The artist told about his works shown at the exhibition, about the story of their creation and peculiarities of the author’s symbolic artistic language, and also shared his future creative plans.
   In solemn atmosphere Volodymyr Tovkaylo was awarded laureate’s prizes – certificate of due form, breastplate of the laureate of the award, an honorary prize of Regional Council and Regional State Administration and a certificate for pecuniary reward.
   V Tovkaylo in acknowledgement presented to the museum his painting “Song about sea”, creation of which had begun in 2002 and was finished in 2014, and a catalogue of a personal painting exhibition, shown in 2012 in Kyiv national museum of Russian art, with an inscription for the museum.
