There were a lot of guests in A.A.Osmerkin Art-Memorial Museum on December 8, 2012, the day of a famous artist and teacher Alexander Osmerkin birthday. Greetings, flowers, classical music… A real festival of art became the main event among others dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the painter. During the year theme art and photo-documental exhibitions were shown, different cultural events – visits to the museum, art workshops, art history and public lectures were held. All those were dedicated to the creative work of our fellow-townsman, painter, Professor of painting A.A.Osmerkin, who was born in Elizabethgrad, spent there his childhood and youth, and whose life path was full of indefatigable creative search.
   The laureates of A.A.Osmerkin Regional Award in fine arts and study of art were traditionally awarded in the museum on the painter’s birthday. This year honourable awards were given to – Alexandria painter, who nearly for 40 years was at the head of a local art school, a lecturer at Alexandria College of Culture, honourary freeman of Alexandria, Kirovograd Region Stepan Nikolenko in the nomination “national tradition”; Kirovograd painter, whose creative work is characteristic of avant-garde searches in fine arts, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine Oksana Zhuravel in the nomination “modern tendencies”; and a scientist, dean of the Department of Arts of Kirovohrad V.V.Vynnychenko State Pedagogical University, Professor Leonid Babenko in the nomination “study and history of art”.
   A presentation of a postal envelope, printed by Ukrpost in the number of 58 000 copies to the 120th anniversary of the painter A.A.Osmerkin, were pleasant news at the event.
