On October 14, 2022, a creative meeting
with Kharkiv artist Mykola Lomakin - the author of the virtual graphic
design exhibition "Immortal Cossack Glory", presented on the occasion of
the Day of the Ukrainian Cossacks and the Day of Defenders of Ukraine (October
14) on the museum website in the "Selected exhibitions" section, took
place in the O.O.Osmerkin Art Memorial Museum.
Mykola Lomakin was born on January 11, 1967 in
Kirovohrad (now Kropyvnytskyi). He lives in Kharkiv, but since the
beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into
Ukraine, he moved to his native city and became a volunteer. He received
his first art education at the children's art school, which is now named
after O.O.Osmerkin. In 1996, he graduated from the Kharkiv State Art and
Industrial Institute, now the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts,
majoring in graphics. Member of the International Association of
Designers IAD International Association of Designers (2020). Laureate of
the international award "A'Design Award & Competition", nomination "graphics,
illustrations and visual communication design", award "Iron Award", Como,
Italy (2020). Participant of all-Ukrainian and international exhibitions
of book graphics (since 2010). Personal exhibitions of works were
exhibited in the Artist's House of the Kharkiv Regional Organization of
the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (2002) and the O.O.Osmerkin Art
Memorial Museum (2012). Works are stored in art museums, private
collections in Ukraine and abroad. He has been working in book graphics
since 2001, in close cooperation with Kharkiv publishing houses, created
original illustrations for printed editions of works by Ukrainian and
foreign writers, Ukrainian folk tales, and children's encyclopedia books.
Mykola Lomakin's graphic works are distinguished by decorativeness and
imagery, careful attention to details and high graphic culture.
It was these artistic characteristics of the graphic artist
that became the basis for his cooperation with Kyiv-based Monetnyi Dvir
"Kniazhyi" LLC - creating the design of commemorative medals of "Heroes
of Cossack Ukraine" and other design projects. "When the team of
Knyazhiy came up with the idea of issuing a series of medals dedicated
to outstanding figures of the Ukrainian Cossacks, there was no doubt
about the choice of the artist. We approached Mr. Mykola with the offer
to take part in this project, knowing that this very difficult topic is
by strength for him. The history of the Cossacks is full of many famous
names, but very often we know only the names and actions, and at the
same time we can only imagine the appearance of the hero. So it was a
really creative image reconstruction project. And maybe in reality one
of the hetmans and chieftains had a different hairstyle or eye shape,
but the artist managed to convey very clearly the character,
individuality and indomitable Cossack spirit of each of his heroes,"
wrote the manager of new product development of Monetnyi Dvir "Kniazhyi"
LLC Denys Shatalov in an e-mail to Mykola Lomakin at his request to
provide feedback on the presented exhibition.
During the meeting, Mykola Lomakin presented his personal
virtual exhibition "Cossack glory immortal", the exposition of which
consists of computer graphics design projects from the series of
commemorative medals: "Heroes of Cossack Ukraine", "Outstanding figures
of the Cossacks" and "Girl-Ukraine" , made in 2020-2022, and also told
about how portrait images of Cossack knights - hetmans and basket
chieftains of the Zaporizhzhia Army were created, which inspired unique
author's design developments, about interesting information search and
artistic processing of historical images.
Mykola Lomakin was congratulated on the virtual opening by
the director of the museum, Vita Chernova, who handed him a thematic
booklet of the exhibition, which was compiled by the museum scientist,
the Honored Artist of Ukraine Andrii Nadiezhdin, for whom the theme of
Ukrainian Cossacks is a leading theme in his work and art studies.
The creative meeting with the talented artist Mykola Lomakin
was attended by his friends-volunteers, whom he met on Cossack Island,
relatives, and fellow artists, including the famous Kropivnytskyi artist
Lyubov Kiryanova, who remembers her talented student well, because at
one time she taught him at an art school. Mykola Lomakin was pleased to
present all of them with an autographed exhibition booklet. |
