On May 8, 2020, O.O.Osmerkin Art-Memorial Museum presented an online exhibition “Remembrance flame” to the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation. The exhibition was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory over Nazism in World War II.
    The war makes a huge impact on a person’s mind. Especially vivid impressions have “children of war” who were raised in that awful period, and their world-view was shaped with the fire of explosions and fears of occupation. The key object of the exposition within the new art project “Exhibition of one painting: became a painting of a talented artist from Kropyvnytskyi, People’s Artist of Ukraine Mykhailo Nadezhdin with a symbolic title “Remembrance flame” created in 1990. The painting is from the museum collection “Modern Ukrainian Fine Art”.
    “This painting is about life. Happiness, love, birth, and sooner or late death – it is life and the main thing is to remain human”, - answered Mykhailo Volodymyrovych the question about the idea of the painting. His elder brothers participated in the war.
    The exhibition is completed with photos and documents of the artists-veterans. The following unique materials are presented at the exhibition: Volodymyr Fedorov’s letter to his mother to Kirovohrad (now Kropyvnytskyi) that had been liberated, dated by January 23, 1944; Mykola Bondarenko’s frontline notebook with poems and his brother’s letter to the frontline; personal photographs of the artists’ in military uniform during the war years and while working in the art studios in the postwar years. These and other exhibition items can be discovered at the museum website in the section “Some exhibitions” because they were presented at the themed exhibitions – “A Letter from the Front by the painter Volodymyr Fedorov” in 2013, “Front Notebook of Painter Mykola Bondarenko” in 2014, and exhibition of works by artists-veterans “With Love to the Native Land” in 2015.
     The museum exhibition is a tribute to the memory of everyone who experienced the flame of the war.
