On
September 18. 2019, O.O.Osmerkin Art-Memorial Museum hosted a presentation of the
exhibition and a themed booklet “Pictorial palette of Serhii and Anatolii Shapovalov”
to Town Day.
The exhibition presents more than 40 paintings of the famous artists
from Kropyvnytskyi – Merited Artist of Ukraine Serhii Shapovalov and a member of the
National Union of Artists of Ukraine Anatolii Shapovalov. On the occasion of the 265th
anniversary of the town of Kropyvnytskyi, they were awarded the honorary distinction “Of
Merit” of the 2nd degree of the City Council. Special attention is drawn by the views of
Kropyvnytskyi and its historical center with the architectural monuments of the past
centuries depicted by Serhii Shapovalov. And the composition of everyday life and floral
still lifes by Anatolii Shapovalov fill with positive emotions and the wind of the
Ukrainian steppe.
Siblings Serhii and Anatolii Shapovalovy were born in the Kirovohrad
Region. Both of them graduated from Kyiv State Art Institute, now the National Academy of
Visual Arts and Architecture, in the specialty “Painting”. For many years they have
been working as painters in Kirovohrad Art and Industrial Studios of the Art Fund of
Ukrainian SSR. They are laureates of the Regional Award in Fine Art and Study of Art named
after Oleksandr Osmerkin in the nomination “national tradition”. They are active
participants in town, regional, all-Ukrainian, and foreign exhibitions. The artists have
presented many personal exhibitions in many cities of Ukraine and abroad. Serhii
Shapovalov exhibited his works in the National Taras Shevchenko Museum in Kyiv and in
Guadalajara in Spain. And paintings by Anatolii Shapovalov were shown at prestigious
international art auctions in Great Britain. The creative works of each artist have their
artistic peculiarities that define the individual style. Their paintings are kept in
Ukrainian museums and private collections.
Deputy mayor Andrii Palyvoda, the head of the Regional Organization of
the Union of Artists of Ukraine Andrii Khvorost, researchers of the Regional Art
Museum Anatolii Kimnatnyi and Hanna Nedilska, and Merited Journalist of Ukraine
Bronislav Kumanskyi congratulated the famous artists on the vernissage. Serhii Shapovalov
presented Bronislav Kumanskyi with a painting – a still life with red poppies. The
museum staff presented the artists with traditional souvenirs – cups with the museum
building image and a themed booklet of the exhibition. The event a musical greeting by
Olha Tereshchenko, the teacher of the Musical School No.1 named after H.H.Neuhaus, was
performed at the end of the event. |
